TuksBasketball : Neo takes charge of 1st team

Posted on February 10, 2011

This international event hosted players from Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi.

The competition served as qualifiers for the top two countries to represent Zone VI in the All Africa Games and the top team for the African Champs. We were graced with prominent figures both locally and internationally in the basketball fraternity. TuksBasketball would like to congratulate the Senior Men’s team for qualifying for the All Africa Games and we wish them well.

In December 2010 the TuksBasketball ladies participated in the annual USSA tournament which took place at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (Westville Campus). After securing 2nd position to qualify in the tournament, the ladies went and faced opposition from the various universities present.

After losing to Vaal University of Technology in the group stages, this meant that the ladies had to face University of Johannesburg in the semi finals which they narrowly lost. The ladies came 3rd overall. Congratulations are due to Takalani Mfamadi, a senior player in the team, who went on to receive an All Star Award.

The Valentines Tournament is an annual event to welcome 1st year students. Its purpose is to show them just how much fun basketball can be. It will be held on the 21st of February. We look forward to seeing all the residences present.
