A good haul for TuksSwimming in Rome so far

Posted on July 30, 2009

Along with this performances we have seen the TuksSwimmers to-date shaping really well in their personal improvements. Personal improvement is a key foucs of the TuksSwimming coaching staff and the 90% personal best ratio is very pleasing to the staff of the club. We have seen great swims by all our swimmers leading to numerous best times, along with numerous individual country national records. Some remarkable swims have come from Darren Murray, a 17 year old TuksSwimming and HPC academy swimmer in todays 200m Backstroke event with a 3,5 second personal best time swum. Other great swims have come from individuals such as Maxine Heard (Zimbabwe) in her 200m IM and two breaststroke events so far. Others with good swims have been Tim Ferris (Zimbabwe), new National records in his two breaststroke events, Pina Ercolano (Kenya), Quinton Du Pont (Swaziland), Kirsten Lapham, Moira Fraser (both Zimbabwe) and Monica Bernardo (Mozambique) with large improvements in times. Along with this the big time improvements in the 50 and 100m Breaststroke events of South African and HPC nutured talent of Thabang Moketsane.

What has also been satisfying is the work done with visiting swimmers prior to the meet and their performances achieved. This includes Daniella Lindemeier (Namibia) whom has broken 3 Namibian National records, one of them that has stood since 1982 and Jade Howard (Zambia) who showed a 5 second improvement in her 100m backstroke event.

With 3 days left of racing, we are excited to see the last races that our swimmers will be competing in. In particular we look forward to the efforts of TuksSwimmer and the most decorated South African Olympian of all time, Roland Schoeman in the 50m freestyle event, his signature and favored event.

SO all in all, the swims of our team mates have been exceptional and we look forward to their final efforts. Yeah Tuks!
