Only 30 minutes later, the men's 4 x 400m relay team won the bronze medal in a time of 3:05.61 and this time around Tuks's Willie de Beer ran a spirited last leg to clinch 3rd spot.
Earlier, the 4 x 400m women's relay team, including Tuks athletes Wenda Theron and Alet van Wyk was narrowly beaten into the 5th place with a time of 3:34.59 - the 10th best time ever by a South African team.
