In other events on Day 2, Claudia Viljoen was placed seventh in the final of the 100 m hurdles in a time of 13,97 seconds, and in the 400 m for men Oscar Pistorius and Willie de Beer both advanced to the final, which will be run on Friday. Estie Wittstock also advanced to the final in the 400 m for women.
LJ van Zyl was the fastest loser in the 400 m hurdles and advanced to the final. Lynique Prinsloo was one of only two athletes that achieved the distance of 6,25 m in the long jump required for automatic qualification. With a distance of 6,34 m she will be one of the favourites to win the gold medal on Friday.
Other Tuks athletes who will participate on Day 3 of the CAA African Athletics Championships are Marc Mundell (20 km walk), Lehann Fourie and Ruan de Vries (110 m hurdles) and Russell Tucker (discus).
