The schools were more than willing to accept the gift of trees, and understood not only the aesthetic value of the trees, but also their education potential – the lesson behind all of this: human activities often cost the environment, and often these costs are not taken into consideration, and not reflected in our prices and balance sheets.
Initiatives such as these demonstrate that it is possible for humans to continue to thrive into the future, if we act responsibly, taking into consideration not only economics, but also environmental and social matters in an integrated and holistic manner. If we plan ahead, and act responsibly, we are able to create win-win opportunities, partnerships are created and strengthened, awareness is raised, and the environment is protected for us now and for future generations.
