Ane Fourie, Allastair Luke, Damain Rainer and Schalk Theunissen, all engineering students, enrolled for the compulsory undergraduate module, Community-Based Project (JCP) of the Faculty Engineering, Built Environment and Information technology (EBIT) renovated the jungle gyms at Skukuza pre-school in the Kruger National Park. They also had the opportunity to be to assist in a game capture, helping the staff and game rangers. .This was due to their efficiency and commitment to the task.
In their blog report (http:/blogs.up.ac.za/jcp2009/index.php?blog=240) they reflected as follows on their experience: “...we learnt to critically assess every integral part of the playground from a child’s point of view, as well as keeping safety in mind.”
