JCP students do some maintenance work at Irene Middle School

Posted on April 04, 2011

With the memories of the 2010 World Cup still fresh in their minds a group of JCP- students decided to undertake some maintenance work on the soccer field of Irene Middle School.  Soccer is one of the most popular sports presented by the school but their soccer field and specifically their goal posts needed attention.

The group of students enrolled in the compulsory undergraduate Community-Based Project Module of the Faculty Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology are currently renovating the sports area of Irene Middle School. The students indicated that they are enjoying the project but that there still remains a lot of maintenance work at the school that needs to be completed before the end of 2011.  The students will reflect and report on their progress in their blog later this year.  The school are again thankful that the students are engage in their community as they provide a valuable service to the school.

The students are:
Anika Muller, Chris Small, Michal Priem and Douw Steyn
