The series, which also focuses on the diversity of South Africa, ensures that all teachers and learners in South Africa will feel at home while using the series, which has an integrating approach to teaching and learning. Language skills are progressively being developed in every grade at school. Subjects such as life orientation and mathematics are also integrated to develop each learners in the best possible way.

This exciting series consists of the following components, which are available for each grade in the Foundation Phase: Grade 1-3, which includes four big books with text for reading alone or with someone; a learner book with activity opportunities; five books for reading; a teacher’s guide with tools; an e-planner CD-ROM as well as an audio CD-ROM with songs, rhymes and text.

Provision was also made in the series for a variety of texts, for example poems, stories, dialogue, articles, recipes and graphic text. The text has been illustrated in a cheerful way and encourages the learners to enjoy dialogue. A variety of themes is discussed in each grade, including personal development, friends, careers, animals and sunny South Africa, to make teaching and learning relevant. Assessment is an important component of each series and teachers are guided to continuously assess their learners.

The beautiful songs and rhymes on the audio-CD are enjoyable and make learning Afrikaans a pleasure.
