The Institute for Strategic and Political Affairs (ISPA) and the Embassy of the United States of America (Pretoria)cordially invite you to the Second Edward Kennedy Memorial Lecture presented by DR TOM BOASBERG Superintendent of Public Schools in Denver Colorado on "Educational reform in the United States: Global challenges and lessons learned".
The Edward Kennedy memorial lectures are dedicated to the principles that Senator Kennedy lived and fought for throughout his life. One of his highest priorities was delivering quality education to all, an ongoing issue in both the USA and South Africa. Dr Boasberg is an influential leader on educational reform issues in the US and since taking up the position of Superintendent of Public Schools in Denver, the district has dramatically increased its success rate in terms of enrolment increases and the expansion of preschool facilities. The number of lowest-performing schools has been greatly reduced and school dropout rates have decreased by 40%. The district’s education achievement gains have over the past five years outpaced all other school districts in Colorado.
Dr Boasberg obtained a BA in History (summa cum laude) from Yale College and JD with distinction from Stanford Law School.
