In 2012, the Convention took place at the Sandton International Convention Centre on 13 March.
The fifth anniversary of the Convention brought with it a new and exciting dynamic, namely the inclusion of recent graduates whose record indicates, without a doubt, that they are bound for the boardroom. Not surprisingly, MCom(Industrial Psychology) students from the Department of Human Resource Management were among the nominees to attend the “Tomorrow’s Leaders Convention”. The aim is to create an ethos of mentorship both within the participating organisations and within the Tomorrow's Leaders Fellowship.
The Convention is a unique opportunity to debate leadership issues and provides a vital networking platform for the country's emerging talent. Speakers from top companies in the world were invited to share their views on the relationship between leadership ethics and leadership sustainability.
Some of the prominent speakers were South Africa’s Public Protector Adv Thulisile Madonsela, Mr Saki Macozoma, chairperson of Stanlib, and Simone Zanetti, CEO of Allos Consulting (an international company with offices in South Africa) and Venus. Thebe Ikalafeng, founder of Brand Leadership Group and Brand Leadership Academy, emphasised in his speech the significance of branding oneself as a leader, as such branding can have a huge impact on how the world perceives one’s leadership ability. Siki Mgabadeli, who is an anchor on SA FM, was the master of ceremonies.
