Prestigious keynote address at the American Academy of Audiology

Dr De Wet Swanepoel has been invited by the Foundation of the American Academy of Audiology to serve as the Marion Downs Pediatric Lecturer in Charlotte, North Carolina during the annual academy convention being held from 2 -5 April 2008.

This prestigious event, instituted in honour of the legendary Marion Downs, is an invited lecture by a specialist in the field of pediatric audiology. The American Academy of Audiology convention is the largest gathering of audiologists in the world, attracting between seven and eight thousand participants annually.

Dr Swanepoel will present a 90 minute lecture on early intervention for hearing loss in developing countries including specific challenges faced such as HIV/AIDS which will subsequently be published in the Audiology Today journal. This is the first time a guest from outside the United States of America has been awarded this prestigious honour.
