Tuks does it again in the 2011 qualifying examination of SAICA

The following are interesting facts about the recent examination:
  • Jaco Jordaan of UP (academic trainee in the Department of Financial Management) came fourth under the top ten candidates in the exam and passed the exam with honours (achieved 75% or higher).
  • Only seven of the 3 110 candidates who wrote the exam, passed with honours and the seven form part of the top ten qualifiers.
  • The national pass rate among all first-time writers in 2011 was 80%.
  • UP achieved a first-time pass rate of 96% (joint first position of the Big Five CA training universities).
  • 154 out of 161 of UP’s first-time candidates passed.
  • UP achieved a pass rate of 97% for African candidates in 2011 (89% in 2010).
  • All ten the academic trainees at UP passed the exam.
  • Taking both first-timers and other candidates into account, 164 out of 173 (95%) candidates passed - the highest pass percentage in South Africa.
  • The Departments of Auditing, Financial Accounting, Financial Management and Taxation are involved in CA training at UP.
