Recently, GIBS had the privilege of welcoming the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill’s Kenan Flagler Business School . The 25 undergraduate students majoring in Business Administration, participated in a two week global immersion ending in Johannesburg with visits to Soweto, The Apartheid Museum, Alexandra Township and World of Beer. They were addressed by Prof. Nick Binedell on “South Africa in the global context” and also discussed “HIV/AIDS in SA” with Prof. Margie Sutherland at the Gordon Institute of Business Science. Also welcoming them in Gauteng were company giants: JSE, GE Energy Africa, Vodacom, SAB Miller and the Water Reclam Plant in Witbank.
Prior to this they spent five days in Cape Town with experiential visits to Robben Island, Table Mountain, Pan African Market, wine estates and Langa Township. They also enjoyed talks from speakers such as Alec Erwin and Gareth Ackerman while visiting companies to the likes of Ogilvy and Mather and Pick n Pay.
