Prof Meylahn’s research focus is the conversation between philosophy and practical theology with a focus on various contemporary phenomena or experiences from the Southern African context; Prof Dreyer’s is on gender, power, sexuality and pastoral engagement; Prof Van Eck’s is the interpretation of the parables of Jesus the Galilean (historical Jesus), using social-scientific criticism as exegetical approach; Prof Duncan is working in the field of African Christianity with particular emphasis on the development of Presbyterianism in Southern Africa; and Prof Kok ‘s research in on the dynamic relationship between identity, ethos and ethics to the expansion (mission) of the “Christian” movement in the New Testament and early Christianity (second century).
NRF ratings are allocated based on a researcher’s recent research outputs and impact as perceived by international peer reviewers. The rating system encourages researchers to publish high quality outputs in high impact journals/outlets. Rated researchers as supervisors will impart cutting-edge skills to the next generation of researchers.
