This competition is for musicians from all countries that form part of the British Commonwealth and helped to launch the careers of famous artists such as Jacqueline du Pré, John Lill, Barry Douglas, Melvyn Tan and more recently Paul Lewis. As a result of this prize, Ben Schoeman will give recitals for the Royal Overseas League in London and Edinburgh and he will perform in the Queen Elizabeth Hall of the London South Bank Centre in May 2009. In 2008, Ben won the Pretoria International Piano Competition held at the Unisa.
