The continent has the potential to have a positive impact on a global scale by developing young people to be pioneering thinkers. If you’re a self-motivated, critically minded student who would like to play your part in African innovation, then the African Leaders of Tomorrow (AlofT) Project is something you may be interested in.

This online youth development programme aims to empower African youth – who have the right stuff to spearhead business, economic, political and social development on the continent – with a wide range of relevant knowledge, experience and skills. It’s open to full-time students from across the continent.

Only 10 students are selected to join the six-month programme, which is presented on an e-learning platform. The web-based curriculum encompasses self-study, tutorials, training and ongoing assessments.

Successful applicants will acquire research, writing, analytical and other important skills, and will have the opportunity to put them into practice and gain valuable work experience through collaboration with the In On Africa team on unpaid, Africa-focused research projects.

Applicants must:

• Be African citizens

• Be proficient in written and spoken English

• Possess good writing and research skills, and analytical abilities

• Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree at an African-based college or university

• Have regular and reliable internet access

• Be able to commit to a minimum of 15 hours a week to the programme
