Invitation to a web presentation: “Coping with Tech driven change: the survival of the most adaptable”

Auditorium, Level 3, Merensky 2 Library, Hatfield Campus
13/02/2018
14:00 to 16:00
The Department of Library Services, invites you to attend this web presentation via Vidyo by Prof Peter Cochrane, Order of the British Empire (OBE).

Venue: Auditorium, Level 3, Merensky 2 Library, Hatfield Campus

More on the presentation: Only 50 years ago our world was relatively disconnected, stable, and slow to change, with innovation mostly resulting in predictable outcomes.  But no more! Networked technologies, have accelerated innovation and change with emergent behaviours the new norm.  No surprise: individuals, organisations, companies and institutions are struggling to keep up. So rapid has been the rate of progress; no country, no matter how big, has all the materials, facilities, people, and innovation skills to meet demand.  The globalisation and sharing of everything from AI, robotics, production facilities through to human intellect and skills looks to be our only option. “Change is no longer a periodic process, it is the new norm”

More on the presenter: Prof Peter Cochrane. Peter’s career spans decades of hands on management, technology and operational experience. At British Telecommunications he became Head of Research and then Chief Technology Officer with major contributions to fibre optics, mobility, speech technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Peter has also been employed in the defence, logistics, travel, retail, energy, healthcare, transport and Pharma sectors. He has been an advisor to the UK, Singapore, US and Qatar governments along with HP, Motorola, Apple, 3M, NetApp Dupont, IBM, Ford, Sun, Apple, Cisco, BMW, FaceBook et al. and numerous investment groups.
