The University of Pretoria (UP) Alumni Office invites you to join the next instalment of our LeadUP: Alumni Thought Leadership Conversations, titled ‘Telling Africa’s Stories: The Business of Innovation, Collaboration and Creativity’.

Ms Noxolo Dlamini, UP alumnus and star of Netflix’s 'Jiva!' series; Prof David Medalie, Director of UP’s Creative Writing Unit; Mr James Ngcobo, Artistic Director, Joburg City Theatres; and Ms Allison Triegaardt, Manager, Netflix Grow Creative Africa will be in conversation with journalist and strategic communications practitioner Ms Sebenzile Nkambule.  

During this discussion you will gain insight into:

  • Current and future trends in global and African storytelling;
  • The effect that new media (such as streaming platforms) and technology (immersive technology and AI) are having on the creative industry;
  • How audience viewing patterns are changing; and
  • The challenge of achieving commercial success and delivering compelling storytelling across platforms, from television to books to the stage.
