Higher Education Institutions globally are challenged during the Coronavirus pandemic in their everyday operations. While some were better prepared even within the same country, a great majority of the world's institutions encountered difficulties from an organizational point of view but more importantly, with respect to the availability of resources for struggling students. Such differences, if not addressed, will only intensify educational and income inequalities and the greater challenge, of the digital divide and preparedness towards the 4th Industrial Revolution and a sustainable future as described by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

While all facing the same storm, the environment and challenges of each geographical region and its HE institutions vary substantially due to historic socio-economic and political reasons and differences in the severity of the pandemic, as well as government responses.

In this discussion, experts in Higher Education from within the GYA membership from a variety of backgrounds and regions, as well as external Higher Education experts, share the challenges they face and what approaches were followed to overcome them.
