InVision Africa Photo Competition for Students

Posted on January 31, 2024

The InVision Africa Photo Competition for Students has been launched, a collaborative project by the Alliance for African Partnership (AAP) and the African Studies Centre (ASC) at Michigan State University. This competition seeks to highlight and celebrate positive images and stories about Africa, specifically in the realms of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Open to students and photography enthusiasts from ten African colleges within the AAP consortium, this initiative aims to inspire and showcase the diverse talents within the continent.

Competition Details:

The theme for this year's competition is "Reshaping Africa's Narrative." We encourage students to photograph and share photos that challenge misconceptions, recognize African accomplishments, and investigate the continent's varied cultures, research, creativity, and business.

Priority areas: While it is not mandatory students may collaborate with researchers at their universities to develop a photography project that is aligned to AAP research priority areas, or they may work on it alone.

Eligibility: The competition is open to students from all AAP Consortium member universities.

Submission deadline: Participants have until April 30, 2024, at 10:59 PM (GMT) to submit their entries.

Prizes: Exciting prizes and opportunities await the winners, including the chance to have their work featured in exhibitions and publications.

Submission Guidelines: Detailed submission guidelines and instructions can be found on the InVision Africa website.

This competition allows students to express their creativity, combat stereotypes, and contribute to a more favorable perception of Africa. We want you to spread the word among your students and faculty members, motivating them to participate and contribute their unique viewpoints.

Together, we can use photography to transform Africa's narrative. We look forward to receiving inspiring contributions from your institutions and showcasing Africa's young talent and ingenuity.
