Vaccination site announcement

Posted on July 26, 2022

Dear UP member,

We would like to thank you for adhering to safety protocols as part of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The University of Pretoria (UP) is proud to have been one of the first tertiary institutions in South Africa to establish a COVID-19 vaccination site for the health and safety of its staff and students.

Now that we have overcome the worst of the pandemic, with declining cases and a decline in vaccinations, the University will be closing its vaccination site, effective from 28 July 2022. This means that vaccination bookings via the UP Portal will no longer be available.

However, COVID-19 IS NOT OVER!

Booster vaccines are still highly recommended, as we have seen another rise in COVID-19 infections around the world. Therefore, we urge you to visit the new Steve Biko Academic Hospital (SBAH) vaccination site (Level 3, next to Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy) to receive your booster shot.

Kindly note, the SBAH vaccination site will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8am to 2pm, and will be open throughout August, September and October 2022.

A list of alternative vaccination sites can be found on the official SA coronavirus website.

We thank you for your strength and commitment to your own safety and well-being, as well as that of your family and peers.

Kind regards,

Prof Caroline Nicholson

UP Registrar
