The Special Collections Item of the Week this week is:
Soweto, 16 June 1976: It All Started With a Dog by Elsabe Brink, Gandhi Malungane et al.
This book is constructed from stories told by people about their involvement in the events that took place in Soweto in 1976. They share their memories of that day as well as the time leading up to it and the days, months and years that followed. Each story has been broken up into segments which coincide with the sequence of events during those days. For many people, and indeed for the respondents, their stories do not end on June 16.
