Yolana Du Plessis-Martin, who is currently employed as an Engagement Manager at Deloitte Consulting in New York, was a promising young swimmer at the University of Pretoria’s TuksSport High School and its first Head Girl in 2006.
In our new episode she talks to the LeadUP Podcast about how an injury dashed her Olympic dreams, rethinking her ideas of the future, and how taking a leap and moving overseas led her on a growth journey she could not have imagined as a child. “In my heart birthed this desire to be more multi-disciplinary and seem more multi-disciplinary or layered than just Yolana the swimmer. And that sparked in my heart a desire to change. I didn’t know what the change was,” she says on the new episode.
LeadUP Podcast, produced by UP’s Alumni Relations Office and hosted by Lennox Wasara of Radio 702 and TuksFM, sees prominent UP alumni and alumni associates share their top tips for success, and the stories behind their own climb up their industry ladder.
