Dear UP community,

Over the past two years, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced the University to replace the traditional graduation ceremonies with virtual events. In 2021, graduates who wished to do so, could collect their certificates from the Rembrandt Hall and had an opportunity to take pictures with their family members or guests to mark the occasion.

The 2022 autumn graduation ceremonies will take place from 20 April to 20 May 2022, and we are grateful to announce that the Executive Management of the University has approved in-person graduations.

In-person graduation ceremonies will be conducted in strict accordance with the COVID-19 regulations that are in place at the time. This will imply the following:

• At adjusted Alert Level 1, in-person graduations will take place with observance of the applicable regulations, and graduates may be accompanied by two (2) guests.
• At adjusted Alert Level 2, in-person graduations will still take place; however, only graduates may attend (thus no guests).
• In the case of adjusted Alert Levels 3 to 5, virtual graduations ceremonies will take place. Should this transpire, details regarding the collection of certificates and courier services will be provided to graduates.  

With regard to in-person graduation ceremonies, the number of students will be restricted in order to assist the Graduation Office to comply with the relevant COVID-19 social distancing regulations. Graduates will also have to confirm whether or not they will be attending the ceremony.

Communication regarding the procedure to register to participate in the graduation procession will be issued to staff members shortly.

Please note that in-person graduations may be cancelled at short notice as they are entirely dependant on the COVID-19 Alert Level that is in place at the time as determined by Government.
