The ruined cities of Mashonaland: being a record of excavation and exploration in 1891 by J.T Bent.

James Theodore Bent (1852 – 1897), British explorer, archaeologist and author, spent a year in southern Africa, investigating ruins in Mashonaland (northern Zimbabwe). In 1891, he conducted the first detailed examination of Great Zimbabwe with the assistance of surveyor Robert M. W. Swan. The Ruined Cities of Mashonaland, first published in 1892, is a detailed and illustrated description of this analysis.
