The Special Collections Book of the Week this week is:

The National Shakespeare: a Fac-simile of the text of the first folio of 1623 by William Shakespeare.

In celebration of Shakespeare’s birthday on the 23rd of April, this week’s Books of the Week are a complete, three-volume set facsimile of the 1623 first folio edition of Shakespeare's complete plays, with illustrations by Sir J. Noel Paton, published between 1888 and 1889. The volumes are bound in green cloth with gilt titles and inset decorative elements. This set is part of our Roos Collection, which was donated to the Library in 1940.
