The University is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Paulette Bloomer as Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning of the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences from 1 April 2020 until 31 March 2024.       

Professor Bloomer joined the Department of Genetics as a lecturer in 1999. She has been the Head of Department of Genetics for two terms (Jan 2010 to Dec 2017) and of the Department of Biochemistry, Genetics and Microbiology (Jan 2018 to Feb 2020).

Professor Bloomer’s main research interests are vertebrate phylogeography and conservation genetics. She has supervised or co-supervised close to 100 honours, MSc, PhD and postdoctoral students and researchers.

I congratulate Professor Bloomer on her appointment and wish her well in her career as the Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning of the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, and as a member of the University’s management team.
