The World of Ceramics: Eastern and Western ceramic collections of the University of Pretoria by Gerard De Kamper and Sian Tiley-Nel.

As part of the permanent collections of the University of Pretoria Museums, the ceramic collection is by far one of the leading and most wide-ranging of its kind on public display in South Africa. This catalogue of the eastern and western ceramics showcases an important selection of ceramics from around the world, spanning from Europe, across Africa to East Asia and South America. The collections include porcelain, celadon, earthenware, stoneware and tin-glazed wares, and also much older pre-Columbian ceramics from South America, African clay figurines and some examples of ancient Roman, Egyptian and Chinese pottery. In the museum’s six galleries, with almost 1800 ceramics, are some of the finest and most spectacular ceramics that back to the Neolithic period, through all the ages to contemporary 21st century South African studio and factory ceramics.

This book is available at Special Collections, housed on level 5 of the Merensky 2 Library, and is part of our Tukkiana (TUK) Collection.
