Welcome to the University of Pretoria and congratulations on choosing UP. You’ve made one of the best decisions of your life!
We’d love to welcome you to our family, but you’ve got to register online first – from 13 to 31 January 2020.
To register and confirm that you will be a student at UP in 2020 you need to click here and follow the steps.
Remember to consult the yearbook to check that you are taking the correct number of courses for the year, and to confirm that there are no unnecessary exam clashes based on your choice of subjects (where applicable).
If you have any difficulty registering online, you can be assisted from 13 January 2020 at the Hillcrest Sport Campus.
Once you’ve registered you will be able to pick up your student card until 25 January 2020.
On 25 January 2020 you will be officially welcomed at the University of Pretoria with a special day of festivities just for you and your family to celebrate your achievements so far. You’ll learn a lot about UP and get to meet the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Tawana Kupe, who will let you know what’s expected of you at UP and beyond.
We’re looking forward to meeting you there!
Orientation Week takes place from 27 to 31 January, and it’s crucial that you attend this because all the tips and tricks you learn at Orientation Week will prove invaluable as you navigate your studies at UP. Click here for faculty orientation programmes.
Well done on your journey so far! We encourage you to work consistently so that you graduate on time. The easiest way to do this is to read your notes before class, ask questions, listen and engage in class, and revise after class. Complete all your tests and assignments on time and maintain a good average. Remember, UP has a great support offering that will equip you for the world beyond university, whether you want to start your own business or get a job.
We’re here for you, and there’s always someone you can speak to if you’re in need or unsure of anything. You’ll get all the information you need at Orientation Week, so don’t miss out.
Remember, it’s simple to start your journey at UP: register online from 13 to 31 January 2020, attend Welcome Day with your parents/guardians/caregivers on 25 January, and learn more about UP and university life at Orientation Week from 27 to 31 January 2020.
We’re so excited to have you join our family, and we can’t wait to be part of your journey of success!
