Staff urged to put their best foot forward on #ChooseUP Day

Posted on August 16, 2019

Saturday 17 August 2019 is one of the biggest days on the University of Pretoria’s calendar. It’s #ChooseUP Day!

#ChooseUP Day replaces the old Open Day, but keeps much of the same format, except that personal invitations are issued to provisionally admitted students and their families. These learners are all interested in a particular career or study programme and will attend focussed sessions with our deans and get to meet academic and support staff throughout the day.

Professor Tawana Kupe, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, will give two talks where he will outline what it means to be a provisionally admitted student and what it means to be part of the University of Pretoria.

There will be exciting activations to engage our guests and learners will be encouraged to embrace THE UP WAY before they register for 2020.

We urge all staff to put their best foot forward, since this is the first time many of the learners and their parents are coming to UP. Please take special care to welcome our guests to your stalls and stands, provide information and directions (where necessary) and to assist where possible. We want our provisionally accepted learners and their families to feel the ‘impact’ of, and what it means to LIVE THE UP WAY through warm welcomes, kindness, helpfulness, tolerance, smiles and a positive attitude.

We hope that staff also enjoy the day, and manage to attract and retain the best possible students who will be passionate about their study programmes and graduating on time to be ready for the world beyond university.
