More about our writer: Siphiwo Mahala is a novelist, short story writer and playwright. He obtained a BA Honours degree from the University of Fort Hare, a Creative Writing certificate from Rhodes University and an MA degree in African Literature from Wits University. His books include the novel When A Man Cries, which he translated into his native Xhosa language as Yakhal' Indoda, and a short story collection, African Delights. In January 2016 The Guardian selected African Delights one of the top ten must-read books in the world. His debut play, The House of Truth, starring Sello Maake kaNcube, premiered to sold-out audiences at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival in June 2016. He is currently completing his PhD in English Literature.
