AmaTuks have qualified for the Promotional playoffs and need the support of the University of Pretoria family, as well as friends of AmaTuks, as they fight to retain their spot in the elite league.
The team will go up against the second- and third-placed teams in the National First Division, Highlands Park and Mbombela United respectively. They have had a difficult season but did enough to earn a chance to fight to stay in top-flight football by beating Lamontville Golden Arrows 2–1 at the Tuks Stadium.
In the 2015/2016 season, AmaTuks won six matches, drew seven and lost seventeen. They scored 25 goals in 30 matches and ended the season in 15th position on the log with 25 points. On the more positive side, five of their six wins this season have been at home and they also picked up a 5–0 win in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 against third-division outfit Polokwane City Rovers.
Highlands Park ended the 2015/2016 season in the National First Division in second position having amassed 17 wins, 8 draws and 5 losses. They scored 43 goals and finished with 59 points.
Mbombela United had 17 wins, 11 draws, and 4 losses. They scored 42 goals and ended with 56 points.

'Every game is a cup game and a positive result is all that matters. I have had the joy of coaching in the NFD and I think all the teams are similar in fighting spirit and how they attack in every game. I have always emphasised that winning a match is about your team; you can look at the weaknesses of your opposition but if you don't do the basics then you are never going to get the wins you need. For us it's back to basics: defend as a team and convert the chances that you create. The players and I know what it will take to stay in the PSL and if we must play for another two months to do so then so be it,' said AmaTuks manager, Shaun Bartlett.
