International Genetically Engineered Machines Competition

Call for driven young innovators of all disciplines to compete in iGEM2016 as team Pretoria_UP.

 

What is iGEM?

International Genetically Engineered Machines is a multi-disciplinary competition with over 280 competing universities, colleges, high schools and community labs from across the world. These include Cambridge, Yale and MIT. Each team proposes a novel synthetic biology project that integrates biology, computer science, engineering and other fields, to solve a world problem. The team pitches their idea and progress at the prestigious Giant Jamboree in Boston, USA each autumn.

 

Who can join?

The Forest Molecular Genetics Programme aims to recruit ten diverse team members by March 2016.

  • You should be 23 years of age or younger on 31 March 2016.
  • All fields will be considered but preference will be given to engineering, computer science, graphic design, molecular biology and mathematics.
  • Be passionate, excited and full of ideas.
  • Be prepared to work independently and as a team.
