Dear Parents and Guardians
As you have been informed, protest action related to outsourcing has been ongoing since Monday, 11 January 2016, and the University was closed from Tuesday, 12 January 2016 as a result.
I am happy to inform you that an agreement on the insourcing of contracted workers has been reached between the University of Pretoria and the various stakeholders. This agreement will allow the University to return to normal operations.
Following the positive outcome of the discussions, the University will reopen for academic and administrative staff on Thursday, 21 January 2016. The Client Service Centre will be open for first year students only, from 21 January, and for all students from Monday, 25 January.
Once the University has reopened, please contact our Call Centre at 012 420 3111 with any enquiries, or consult our website at www.up.ac.za for further updates.
It has been a difficult time for you as parents and guardians, as well as our students and staff and I want to sincerely thank you for your continued support and understanding.
We are looking forward to a successful 2016 and to welcoming our students for the start of the academic year.
