The MOBILE+ (Mobility for International Learning Experiences) programme provides an interesting opportunity for students and academic staff who want to go to Europe, and more specifically Portugal, on an exchange programme led by the University of Porto.

About the programme

The aim of the project is to foster mutual enrichment and better understanding between Portugal and the 26 partner countries by encouraging student and staff mobility, as well as the transfer of know-how and best practices. South Africa is one of the partner countries and the University of Pretoria (UP) is one of 70 partner institutions.

The project spans two years, and 225 scholarships in total are available to members of the partner institutions. Seven scholarships were allocated to South Africa: three undergraduate scholarships and one doctoral scholarship of five months each, as well as one academic mobility scholarship for staff.

The MOBILE+ programme is part of the Erasmus+ programme that supports transnational partnerships among educational, training and youth institutions and organisations to encourage cooperation and to build a bridge between the worlds of education and work in order to tackle the skills gaps currently faced by Europe.

Eligibility

Students registered at UP for an undergraduate or a doctoral qualification are invited to apply for a MOBILE+ grant as offered by the University of Porto.

• Undergraduate students must at least be enrolled for their second year of study.
• Doctoral students must at least have completed one year of study towards the degree and have an approved research project.

Any student who meets these criteria is invited to apply. However, prospective applicants are advised to read the Erasmus+ guide as well as other relevant documents provided by University of Porto.
