Mental Health Awareness Day

Posted on October 13, 2015

The Unit of Student Support and Counselling in the Department of Student Affairs at the University of Pretoria will be hosting a Mental Health Awareness day on Thursday, 15 October. This coincides with the World Health Organization’s mental health month. We are welcoming exhibitors and role players to the Hatfield Campus during lunch time in the Piazza.

Our mission is to open the discussion on mental health problems in the general student population and create a caring and informed community. This day gives students an opportunity to speak to psychologists and counsellors on campus, receive information about mental health issues from knowledgeable professionals and be informed about the services that are available to TUKS students.

You are therefore invited to save the date of 15 October to visit the Piazza over lunch time. You are also welcome to join the ‘How Are You? silent walk’. This is a student initiative that demonstrates the unnecessary silence that often surrounds mental health issues. The walk will start on the Aula steps at 12:30 and end with our activities in the Piazza at 13:00.

We hope to meet you on the 15th.
