The research focuses on the relationship/interlinking between the architectural domains within enterprise architecture. First, a literature review of the definitions, history, role, functions, existing frameworks, models and domains of enterprise architecture and its domains was conducted. New definitions were synthesised. Second, an integrated metamodel for enterprise architecture was developed, namely the Relational Enterprise Architecture Metamodel (REAM). Third, this metamodel was assessed through three different case studies. The feedback was used to enhance the metamodel. The possible application of the REAM at the University of Pretoria was then assessed. Contributions were made by producing the REAM and developing new synthesised definitions.
