The University of Pretoria plays an important role nationally and makes a significant contribution to South Africa’s international standing. Council is the University’s governing body. It has a fiduciary, governance and policy-making duty and is ultimately responsible for determining the University’s strategic direction.

Organisations, interest groups and individuals are hereby invited to nominate a candidate or candidates to serve on the Council of the University of Pretoria. The nominee or nominees should preferably have experience of the higher education sector as well as tertiary qualifications and high-level expertise and experience in the fields of finance, auditing, business and/or investment management. There are two vacancies to be filled in this category for a four-year term running from 17 March 2015 to 16 March 2019.

Nominations should be in writing and be accompanied by a short curriculum vitae as well as the acceptance of the nomination by the nominee under his or her signature. In addition it is required that the nominee should indicate in writing his/her willingness to serve on Committees of Council in the event that he/she is appointed to Council.

Nominations should reach the Registrar of the University no later than 16:00 on Wednesday, 21 January 2015.

Council will appoint two members from the ranks of the nominees or from the ranks of the nominees that have been shortlisted by the Standing Committee of Council. The Council members thus elected will serve on the Council in their personal capacity and not as representatives of any interest group.
