Unique training for urology health professionals developed at the University of Pretoria

Posted on September 20, 2012

The training interventions have a holistic aim, namely to play a meaningful role in postgraduate urology training with a view to set higher standards in the urology wards and in theatre. The Programme in Urology Nursing for Health Professionals addresses, among others, the following specialised aspects: a holistic approach; applied medical and surgical nursing; and integrated pharmacology. The courses will be presented from 1 September 2012 to 31 August 2013.

Mr Sarel van der Walt, CEO of the Urology Hospital, commented ‘We are glad for the opportunity to give something back to the nursing community and also for the opportunity to give our professional input on the course quality. We are sure that the larger private hospital community can benefit as well from the courses. Urology is seen as a small discipline, but it is nevertheless an important discipline.’

The Department of Nursing Science, University of Pretoria, is proud to collaborate with healthcare partners in practice to enhance the quality of care of urology patients.
