Posted on February 10, 2009

Tuks’ nine points put them ahead of Maties, the only other unbeaten side. Maties have eight points (for the detailed log, go to: http://www.sarugby.net/logs.asp?id=717).
Tuks have scored 68 points with 47 against them (six tries to four).
Maties have only scored two tries in their first two matches. Their point difference is four less than Tuks’ (41-24).
Fourth placed Shimlas are tops as far as tries are concerned. They have scored eight tries to four in their first two matches.
Tuks fly half Juan-Claude Roos is placed first on the list of top point scorers. His 32 points consist of four conversions, seven penalty goals and one drop goal (for the detailed list of top scorers, go to: http://www.sarugby.net/scorers.asp?id=717).
Roos is one of the key players injured in the match against NMMU. He has a sore groin muscle. Other players on the injury list are the lock and captain Johan de Bruin (elbow) and winger Kruger van Heerden (ankle).
Head coach Freddie Grobler and his fellow selectors will only name their side on Wednesday. Tuks play Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) on Monday (February 16) in yet another away game.
Asked on his team’s performance against NUMM Grobler said there was an improvement on the first match (against Pukke in Potchefstroom).
“We played better, but there was still little continuity in our game. I am, however, encouraged by our performance in the last 20 minutes. Against TUT we should aim to build on this,” said Grobler.
