The study also investigated whether such managers are able to access relevant knowledge assets through information and communication technologies (ICT).
Preliminary results of the study, presented at the 21th annual ENTER conference held in Dublin, Ireland in January 2014, indicated that VIC information managers possess varied knowledge management capabilities with differing use made of ICTs. Recommendations propose a country-wide survey into the role of the VIC as a potential knowledge management driver utilising ICTs for the development of local tourism communities (ICT4D). The conference paper is available online at the ENTER e-Tourism short research papers.
The conference was organised by the International Federation for Information Technologies in Travel and Tourism (IFITT), the leading independent global community for the discussion, exchange and development of knowledge about the use and impact of new ICTs in the travel and tourism industry.
