The two publications are:

• Overview Report of the Research Project by the International Labour Organization and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the constitutional and legislative protection of the rights of indigenous peoples in 24 African countries
  
  This publication provides an overview of status and trends regarding the constitutional, legislative and administrative protection of the rights of indigenous peoples in 24 selected African countries. This report provides the results of a research project by the International Labour Organization and the African Commission’s Working Group on Indigenous Communities/Populations in Africa with the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, acting as implementing institution. The project examines the extent to which the legal framework of 24 selected African countries impacts on and protects the rights of indigenous peoples.

• The impact of the Protocol on the Rights of Women in Africa on violence against women in six selected Southern African countries: An advocacy tool
  
  This advocacy tool presents the findings of research on adherence to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa by six Southern African Development Community countries: Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.
  

  The research, undertaken by the Gender Unit of the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, focused specifically on the provisions of the Protocol dealing with violence against women.
