The curriculum for the MScAgric degree consists of a dissertation of 180 credits.
An MScAgric degree in Livestock Production offers students the opportunity to investigate, compare and
improve the different livestock production systems in South Africa and or Southern Africa. In these research
projects, aspects of climate change, water quality and sustainable development goals, relevant to livestock
production may be included and could address research questions across nutrition, animal breeding and animal
welfare.

Residence
On the recommendation of the relevant head of department, the Dean may set specific residential requirements for the MScAgric degree.

Curriculum
Subject to programme-specific requirements, the curriculum for the MScAgric degree consists of the following:

1. A dissertation; and
2. Further study in the major subject/s, augmented by ancillary modules prescribed by the Postgraduate Studies Committee, on the recommendation of the head of department. Such ancillary modules may be taken simultaneously with the major subject/s. Candidates in possession of the BScAgricHons degree may be exempted from additional ancillary modules.
3. Please note that not all modules will be offered in any one year.

1. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in Animal Science degree
   and 
   A weighted average of at least 60% at final year level
   or 
2. Relevant honours degree 
   and
   A cumulative weighted average of at least 60% at honours level
3. A weighted average of at least 60% at honours or final-year level

Note:

1. An admission examination may be required
2. Additional modules may be required in order to reach the desired level of competency
