Costs or fees for any examination(s) and registration at the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa have to be met by the student.

Examinations in the basic subjects
A student must pass the basic subject Molecular pathology (MPX 800) at the University of Pretoria. The basic subject, Anatomical pathology (ANP 808) will be examined by the College of Pathologists as their Part I examination.

Examination and evaluation in the major subject

1. The final exit examination of the major subject (MPG 802) will be administered by the College of Pathologists. Only candidates who have met all the requirements for the MChD degree in Oral Pathology except for the major subject (final examination), i.e. passed all the prerequisite subjects; completed all applicable training as prescribed (continuous evaluation of the candidate in an approved registrar post by the relevant head of department); and completed the required research component for the degree, will be allowed to write the College examination (exit examination) after which they will obtain both the FCP and the MChD as specialist qualifications.
2. The student must submit and pass a dissertation on an approved topic related to the major subject and submit a manuscript for publication as required.
3. A student who obtains a final mark of at least 75% (with the first attempt) in the major subject qualifies to obtain the degree with distinction.
4. Costs or fees for any examination(s) and registration at the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa have to be met by the student.
