| Module content | The economics of settlements, including aspects such as economic advantages, transformation, equity, integration and inclusiveness; locational choices of urban land uses; density and intensity of development; the effects of densities, location and transportation economics on land values; implications of zoning; implications for sustainability and risk reduction; the cost of urban growth, whether by densification or sprawl. The functioning of the property market, e.g. how the property market works for the urban poor; key role players and decision-making in the property market; the role of urban planning as well as local government and their financial viability in the property market. |
