The weekend of Saturday, 12 August 2023 saw the hosting of the first ever official Onderstepoort campus Parkrun at the Faculty of Veterinary Science. And what a successful, exciting and festive event it was with more than 500 participants that completed the parkrun.

What made it even more special was that everything pertaining to the physical event was arranged by our students. They had the support of the faculty’s former Deputy Dean: Teaching and Learning, Prof Dietmar Holm, the Faculty Manager, Ms Metse Mdlongwa and Mr Jet Moses of TuksSport who were the drivers behind the initiative.

Special acknowledgement goes to students Willem Joubert, Lara du Plessis and Liza Uys, the OP Running Club, Beagle Interest Group, the students of the OP Village residence, as well as the student representatives of the clubs and societies who manned their stalls and contributed to an enjoyable, fun-filled event.

This event is now taking place every Saturday and the past weekend (19 August) already set the scene for the second Onderstepoort campus Parkrun. Family and friends, young and old are all welcome. The race starts at 08:00.
