Internship positions in Equine Medicine and Surgery offered

The two positions (12 months each) will run concurrently with the first commencing 1 January and ending 31 December 2012 and the second post starting 1 April 2012 and ending 31 March 2013. A BVSc or equivalent degree that can be registered with the SAVC is required. New graduates are encouraged to apply. The internship will provide the individual with intensive training in equine medicine & surgery with rotations scheduled through other disciplines including diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, and theriogenology. The incumbent will have the following responsibilities: supervised day and night emergency duty at the Equine Clinic of the Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital, management of hospitalized horses, clinical instruction of veterinary students and informal case presentations. The intern may have the opportunity to complete a Masters degree concurrently. The intern would be expected to have had submitted and had accepted one peer-reviewed manuscript (case report / retrospective study) as first author by the end of the 12 month training period. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
