Sharing insigths and fostering connections at the inter-Departmental Postgraduate Climate Change Symposium

Posted on November 08, 2023

On the 1st of November the Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology held the first-ever joint post-graduate symposium with the Department of Zoology and Entomology in the Geography Building. A total of 8 Masters and Doctoral students presented their research to staff and their fellow students and peers. A keynote presentation entitled:” I just wanna stay in that lavender haze” was presented by Professor Jennifer Fitchett from the University of the Witwatersrand. The broad theme of the symposium was adaptations to climate change and this was aptly demonstrated across various disciplines at the symposium by the presenters. The symposium allows scholars to unite, share their insights, and establish mutually beneficial connections across Departments. The value of this initiative extends beyond research output improvement to creating a closely-knit academic community. It is anticipated that more of our colleagues will recognize the significance of these endeavours, and together, we can strengthen collaboration, enhance our research, and foster the growth of a supportive academic community at UP.
