Representatives from the livestock industry as well as Prof Johann Kirsten, Chairman of the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences, were invited. Mr Heiko Köster from Köster Trading and Consulting presented an interesting overview of the livestock industry. He also took the time to highlight career possibilities that were of relevance to graduates. Our guest of honor was Mrs A Joubert the widow of Professor Danie Joubert.  Prof Danie Joubert was one of the previous Principals of the University as well as Head of the Sheep and Wool Science section. Mrs Joubert presented the Prof Danie Joubert bursary to Ms Hoogenboezem as well as the Professor JC Bonsma & Professor Cas Maree bursaries to deserving students Ms du Toit and Ms Hoogenboezem.

Mr van der Veen presented two bursaries from Feedtek to Ms Hoogenboezem and Ms Croxford. Mr Jan Holtzhauzen from Bayer Animal Health presented sponsored shirts to all the 2008 final year Animal Science students. Professor Jannes van Ryssen presented the South African Society for Animal Science (SASAS) awards. Ms Marlien Neuhoff rendered the SASAS Northern Branch award. Finaly, Prof Webb, Head of the Department presented the prestigious AM Bosman medal to Ms Marais for the best postgraduate student of 2007.
