Growing Minds

“We really appreciate it, it is so good for the University to step out and assist us with the nurturing gift of trees. Trees are very helpful and we always find space for them – even the learners were involved with the planting of the trees,” says Pieter Lombaard, Site Manager of Hoërskool Centurion.

According to Lombaard, the trees from the University will do the school a lot of good and are physically and symbolically loaded with meaning. Various trees were donated, including a 35 year old Cycad, River Bushwillows (x9), Wild Olives (x5), Karees (x5), Ouleniqua Yellow-woods (x5) and Box Trees (x6).

“It is worth mentioning that the University is celebrating its Centenary this year. We donated these trees in our Centenary year to one of our dedicated feeding schools to coincide with their 50th year of existence. This symbolizes the nurturing and growth of young minds that will excel at the University of Pretoria in the future,” concludes Marié Venter, Public Relations Practitioner of the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences.
